MIR3 today announced that in the past week its platform, in use by the University of Pennsylvania for its UPennAlert Emergency Notification System, had undergone an annual campus-wide test by the University's Division of Public Safety. This safety drill was conducted to ensure that all campus constituents—some 53,000 students, faculty and staff—continue to be notified with critical, accurate information in the event of any emergency. The MIR3 system surpassed the University's stringent requirements for speed and successful delivery to all registered recipients, sending over 74,000 SMS text and email notifications to more than 53,000 people in just seven-and-a-half minutes.

MIR3 shot up to the rank of 299 in the recently announced 2009 Inc. 500/5000, a jump of nearly 200 from its 498 ranking in the 2008 list. The 2009 list ranks companies by percentage revenue growth from 2005 to 2008. MIR3 achieved nearly 800% revenue growth in that time period. The Syracuse University Department of Public Safety (DPS) issued an alert to campus to stay in place and communicated instructions via text, email and phone to some 27,600 registered students, faculty and staff members. The notification instructed recipients to seek immediate shelter, lock doors and wait for further instructions. All text issued notifications were successfully delivered within 5 minutes.
